In today’s world, where students are increasingly disconnected from where their food comes from, Fresh Food Schools offers teachers a powerful digital hub to reconnect the classroom with fresh produce and horticulture. Designed with educators in mind, this innovative platform provides instant access to curriculum-aligned resources that make teaching about fresh food engaging, interactive, and easy to integrate into everyday lessons.

Fresh Food Schools

Fresh Food Schools is a powerful example of how innovative, curriculum-aligned resources can shape young minds and influence future consumer behaviours. By bringing the farm into the classroom through engaging, interactive content, this digital hub goes beyond simply teaching students about fresh produce—it nurtures informed consumers, sparks interest in agricultural careers, and fosters advocates for sustainable food systems.

This platform was created through a collaboration between the Velisha Education Group (VEG Education) and the Primary Industries Education Foundation Australia (PIEFA), with the goal of supporting effective teaching and learning about Australia’s horticulture industry. The project has been funded by Hort Innovation, using the Vegetable Industry research and development levy and contributions from the Australian Government. Hort Innovation is the grower-owned, not-for-profit research and development corporation for Australian horticulture.

As global challenges in food security and sustainability continue to grow, initiatives like Fresh Food Schools play a vital role in equipping the next generation with the knowledge, appreciation, and motivation to help shape a healthier, more resilient future.
