Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the Certificate II in Agriculture, learners will be able to:

Operate basic farm machinery, including tractors, quad bikes, and front-end loaders.
Handle and care for livestock using safe and effective techniques.
Maintain and repair farm fencing, including electric fencing.
Apply chemicals under supervision for weed and pest control following safety standards.
Monitor water supplies and assist with soil sampling and testing.
Perform general farm workplace health and safety practices.
Participate in environmentally sustainable work practices.
Execute core agricultural tasks such as mustering, feeding livestock, and maintaining farm infrastructure.

To achieve this qualification, competency must be demonstrated in:

  • 16 units of competency:
  • 4 core units plus
  • 12 elective units.

Elective units must ensure the integrity of the qualification’s Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) alignment and contribute to a valid, industry-supported vocational outcome. The electives are to be chosen as follows:
